A case report from Dong-Eui University in South Korea discusses a study on facial pain during acupotomy. The study participant, a 52-year-old male, experienced unexpected numbness and stiffness of the left zygomatic bone during the procedure. These side effects were associated with the trigeminocervical complex and stimulation of the trigeminal nucleus within the spinal cord. The research suggests that during acupotomy, especially at GV16, needles should be inserted slowly and the patient's response should be monitored. [Extracted from the article] |
