Abstrakt: Researchers from Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City have conducted a study on the extraction of flavonoids from Houttuynia cordata Thunb. leaves for potential use in acne treatment. The researchers used an aqueous two-phase system (ATPS) combined with ultrasonic extraction to optimize the extraction process. The results showed that the ATPS extract had excellent antibacterial activity against Cutibacterium acnes and Staphylococcus epidermidis, with a significantly lower minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) compared to ultrasound-assisted (UA) extract. The study highlights the potential of H. cordata ATPS extracts as a starting material for topical preparations for acne treatment. [Extracted from the article]
