Researchers at the University of Kansas have conducted a study on the metabolism of acetaminophen (APAP) in the kidneys and its modulation by 4-methylpyrazole (4MP). The study found that APAP metabolism in the kidney is dose-dependent and that different regions of the kidney have distinct distributions of APAP metabolites. The researchers also discovered that 4MP can ameliorate these region-specific variations in APAP metabolism. This study provides insight into the mechanisms of APAP-induced nephrotoxicity.
