Abstrakt: A recent article in Angewandte Chemie International Edition discusses a new method developed by Yuichi Ohya et al. for synthesizing hydrogels with a topologically cross-linked structure. These gels have physical constraints rather than specific attractive interactions between their components. The researchers synthesized a water-soluble "molecular net" with a large molecular weight and three-dimensional network structure. When a water-soluble monomer was polymerized in the presence of these molecular nets, the polymer chains penetrated the nets to form an ideal topological gel. [Extracted from the article]
