Researchers from the University of Western Australia have conducted a feasibility pilot study to investigate whether hospital admissions for respiratory disease in children with cerebral palsy (CP) can be reduced. The study aims to assess the implementation and effectiveness of comprehensive assessments and individualized treatment plans provided by a multidisciplinary team. The trial will involve 20 children with CP aged 0-12 years who are at risk of respiratory disease, and the results will inform the design of a definitive protocol to test intervention efficacy. The study has obtained ethics and governance approvals and is registered with the Australian New Zealand Clinical Trials Registry. [Extracted from the article] |
