Abstrakt: A recent study conducted by the University of Toronto focuses on the detection of airway closure in pediatric patients with Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS). The study proposes a maneuver called the airway opening pressure (AOP) maneuver, which measures the pressure required for the airway to reopen. The researchers adapted the maneuver for pediatric patients and found that a 3-second maneuver is suitable for patients weighing up to 20 kg, while a 4-second maneuver is recommended for patients weighing beyond 20 kg. The study provides valuable insights for clinicians in managing pediatric ARDS. [Extracted from the article]
