A recent study conducted by researchers from the University of Monastir in Tunisia evaluated different methods for detecting carbapenemase production in Enterobacteriaceae, a type of Gram-negative bacteria. The study compared four phenotypic tests with a molecular method and found that the enzymatic test showed the best performance for carbapenemase detection, with 100% sensitivity. The combination of the enzymatic test and the combined disc test was recommended for carbapenemase detection in Enterobacteriaceae. This research provides valuable insights into combating resistance to carbapenems, which is a challenge for public health. [Extracted from the article] |
