A recent study conducted by the University of Milano Bicocca in Milan, Italy, explored attachment networks in young adults. The study examined the effects of demographic variables such as gender, romantic status, and employment on the structure of attachment networks. The findings revealed that while friends still played a significant role in the network, romantic partners were gaining increasing importance. Mothers remained central figures, particularly for the secure base function. The study also highlighted the importance of romantic partners and work commitments in the phase of intensive restructuring of attachment bond networks experienced by young Italian adults.
