Abstrakt: A recent study conducted at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf in Germany examined the potential adverse effects of a psychological internet-based self-help intervention for individuals with body-focused repetitive behaviors (BFRBs). The study found that while 70% of participants reported at least one positive effect of the intervention, negative effects were also reported by 14-92% of participants, with concerns about data privacy being one of the highest reported negative effects. The study highlights the importance of regularly assessing unintended effects in unguided self-help interventions to ensure user safety. The research has been peer-reviewed and published in Behavior Therapy. [Extracted from the article]
