A recent study conducted at the University of Sao Paulo in Brazil examined the management of fracture-related infection (FRI) after intramedullary fixation (IF). The study analyzed a series of 26 patients with FRI and evaluated factors that may be related to the outcome. The research found that there was no significant association between baseline variables and outcome, but there was a significant association between the Makridis classification and recurrence or death. The study concluded that the consolidation rate was not associated with the outcome of the infection treatment. [Extracted from the article] |
