A study conducted at Xinxiang Medical University in Henan, China investigated the correlation between serum angiopoietin-like protein 4 (ANGPTL4) levels, white matter hyperintensity (WMH), and cognitive impairment (CI) in patients with cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD). The study enrolled 171 patients with CSVD and found that serum ANGPTL4 levels were significantly higher in the CI group compared to the normal cognition group. The study concluded that ANGPTL4 may be involved in the process of white matter damage and CI in CSVD patients and could be a diagnostic marker for CSVD-CI. This research was supported by the Natural Science Foundation of Henan Province. [Extracted from the article] |
