Abstrakt: On September 29 and 30, 2018, History Nebraska hosted a volunteer excavation at the Red Cloud Agency 2. The Agency is within Fort Robinson State Historic Park, located near Crawford, Nebraska. Twenty-five volunteers and eight History Nebraska staff braved rain and cold to test four features at the site. Twenty-one test units were excavated. The excavations at 25DW12, Feature 11, the Frank Yates Trading Post, proved to be the most fruitful. At this feature two pieces of worked glass were excavated. The larg er fragment had been carefully flaked to create a sharp, toothed edge likely used for cutting. The smaller fragment's use is less certain. Worked glass fragments such as these do not appear often in the archeological record of Nebraska. This paper will discuss bri efly the agency, prior work at the site, the 2018 excavations that led to this discovery, comparative artifacts from Nebraska, and the artifacts themselves. The authors hope to add these artifacts to our collective understanding of Native American lifeways on the Great Plains during the early days of the reservation system. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
