The article focuses on optimizing nutrition for extremely preterm infants in the NICU (Neonatal intensive care unit). It examining the challenges and benefits of mother's own milk and donor human milk; discusses the findings of the MILK study, a randomized clinical trial comparing fortified donor human milk with preterm infant formula; and highlighting the lack of significant neurodevelopmental differences but emphasizing the protective role against necrotizing enterocolitis. |
