The article discusses the use of a "Minimal Data Set" (MDS) as a tool for integrating disease reporting systems in Pakistan. The current disease reporting systems in the country have limitations in terms of their focus on communicable diseases and lack of coordination between different systems. The MDS is a standardized data collection approach that aims to provide essential and minimal elements for effective surveillance without redundancy. It emphasizes the importance of context-specific system strengthening and gradual expansion.
