Abstrakt: A recent study conducted in Guizhou, People's Republic of China, examined the clinical manifestation and genetic characteristics of a patient with frontotemporal dementia (FTD). The patient, a 52-year-old man, exhibited abnormal behaviors, executive dysfunction, personality changes, and motor symptoms. Brain imaging revealed hippocampal sclerosis and abnormal energy metabolism indicative of FTD. Genetic analysis detected mutations in the GRN and ErbB4 genes, expanding the common genetic profile of ALS and FTD. This study provides valuable insights into the pathogenesis of FTD and highlights the importance of these genes in the disease. [Extracted from the article]
