Abstrakt: A recent study conducted by researchers from Tanta University in Egypt explored the role of B-cell activating factor (BAFF) as a predictive marker for treatment response in patients with immune thrombocytopenia (ITP). The study involved 90 participants, including 45 patients with primary ITP and 45 healthy individuals. The researchers found that serum BAFF levels were significantly higher in ITP patients compared to the control group, and BAFF levels were also higher in newly diagnosed and steroid-resistant ITP cases. The study concluded that BAFF could be a useful and cost-effective tool for determining the response to steroid treatment in ITP cases. [Extracted from the article]
