A recent study conducted by researchers at the University of Nis explored the spasmolytic activity of Gentiana lutea L. root extracts on the rat ileum. The roots of Gentiana lutea L. have long been used in traditional remedies for gastrointestinal ailments, but their spasmolytic activity had not been previously investigated. The study found that the extract from Gentiana lutea L. root showed potential in the treatment of spasmodic gastrointestinal ailments, primarily through the activation of various channels.
