A recent study conducted by researchers from the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research in Telangana, India, has investigated the potential of biaryl carboxamide-based peptidomimetics analogs as pancreatic lipase inhibitors for treating obesity. The researchers synthesized a series of analogs and screened them for their inhibitory activity against pancreatic lipase. Among the synthesized analogs, three were found to have the most potent inhibitory activity compared to the standard drug, orlistat. The most potent analog, 9, exhibited stable interactions with pancreatic lipase and showed no toxicity in cells. This research provides valuable insights into potential treatments for obesity.
