A study conducted at Tanta University in Egypt explored the immunohistochemical expression of certain proteins in renal cell carcinoma (RCC), a type of kidney cancer. The researchers focused on the proteins cytochrome P4A11 (CYP4A11) and carbonic anhydrase 9 (CAIX), which are involved in cell proliferation and metabolism. They found that CYP4A11 and CAIX can be used as diagnostic markers to differentiate clear cell RCC from other subtypes, with CYP4A11 being more accurate and specific. The study also identified associations between protein expression and tumor behavior. This research has been peer-reviewed and provides valuable insights into the diagnosis and understanding of RCC.
