A recent research report from San Diego highlights the common occurrence of esophageal symptoms, such as heartburn and chest pain, in the general population. The study also found a strong association between these esophageal symptoms and back pain related to pathology in the lumbosacral spine. The researchers suggest that structural and functional changes in the muscles of the esophageal hiatus, which originate from the lumbar spine, may lead to esophageal dysmotility and symptoms. This study provides new insights into the relationship between esophageal symptoms and back pain. [Extracted from the article] |
