A new study conducted by researchers at the Slovak Academy of Sciences explores the potential of exosomes as liquid biopsy markers for early prostate cancer diagnosis. The study investigates the isolation and properties of exosomes produced by benign and carcinoma cell lines, using various methods such as nanoparticle-tracking analysis and scanning electron microscopy. The results indicate that cancerous exosomes are smaller, produced at higher concentrations, and exhibit more negative charge than control exosomes. The study also suggests that specific glycans found on the surface of exosomes could be used as a novel liquid biopsy marker. [Extracted from the article] |
