Abstrakt: A study conducted by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) investigated the health impacts of using do-it-yourself (DIY) portable air cleaners (PACs) in a community affected by smoke exposure. The research involved two studies, one during a wildfire and another during wood smoke exposure. The study found no association between PAC usage and symptoms, and the small sample sizes limited the ability to draw definitive conclusions. The research suggests that further studies are needed to inform public health guidance on PAC use during smoke exposure. [Extracted from the article]
