Amebie liver abscess antigen produced consistently greater reactions in patients with E. histolytica in the stools and in those with amebic liver abscess than did the control antigen. Patients who had positive skin test and clinical symptoms responded well to antiamebie therapy, and showed a reversal of the skin response after treatment. This skill test appears to be specific for amebie involvement of the liver and colon. In this study the earliest reaction was found three weeks after the onset of diarrhea. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
