Christian schools exist today in a post-Christendom era (Reitveld, 2023). In this context, tensions may occur between wider societal norms, government requirements, and Christian school communities desiring to be faithful to the biblical story. Humility, hospitality, and hope have been offered as postures for schools wishing to be salt and light in their communities--particularly when tensions arise (CEN, 2021). This paper discusses why these postures are vital for Christian school communities. In particular, it is argued that the postures of humility, hospitality, and hope can be intentionally applied to schools in the mandated requirement to teach and learn about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives and culture.
