Abstrakt: This article reflects on the experiences of clinical psychologists accessing personal therapy during their training. The authors highlight the stigma surrounding mental health in caring professionals and the pressures they face. They also note that while personal therapy is not expected in clinical psychology training, it is a requirement in other therapy trainings. The authors emphasize the importance of normalizing the idea that clinical psychologists will experience their own mental health fluctuations and advocate for compassionate training programs that support the well-being of trainees. They suggest that the focus should be on addressing the "othering" experienced by trainees who choose or need to access therapy, rather than making it mandatory. [Extracted from the article]
