Abstrakt: Thin wall parts are distorted during machining or material removal due to quenching stresses and strains, which are generated during solution treatment of AA2014, are reduced by stretching to get AA2014-T651. These remaining stresses effect on distortion and deformation of thin wall parts. Stress relieving heat treatment was carried out on AA2014-T651 samples at different temperatures for different soaking durations, corresponding mechanical properties and evaluated residual stresses were incorporated in FEA analysis with proportional values using correction factors and simulated deformation by Transient thermal analysis and structural analyses. Analysis results revealed that stresses are not eliminated completely and gradient of stresses minimized at optimum stress relieving temperature and soaking duration, which are useful as a guide for stress relieving heat treatment of AA2014-T651.
