Abstrakt: Mortality and morbidity (M&M) conferences are widely held in clinical training facilities in the United States to review unexpected deaths and complications and improve the quality of care. However, few hospitals in Japan conduct M&M conferences, despite the value they hold for medical safety and education. This article identifies five hurdles in holding M&M conferences in Japan, including highlighting their significance, difficulty in setting dates and times, case selection, facilitation, and preparation. The authors provide ways to address these hurdles and emphasize the importance of M&M conferences in improving patient safety and the diagnostic process. [Extracted from the article]
