Abstrakt: | A recent study conducted at the University of Szeged in Hungary explored the development of novel anticancer compounds using steroids as molecular tools. The researchers developed two estradiol-based hybrid molecules and their copper complexes, investigating their properties through various spectroscopic techniques. The study found that these compounds exhibited moderate cytotoxicity in breast and colon cancer cells and formed stable complexes with copper ions. The copper complexes showed increased cytotoxicity compared to the ligands alone and demonstrated a better selectivity profile. Further research is needed to explore the potential of these compounds in cancer therapy. [Extracted from the article] |
