A study conducted at the Regional University Hospital in Malaga, Spain, explores the survival rates of patients over the age of 65 who undergo liver transplantation for hepatocarcinoma. The research indicates that age alone is no longer a contraindication for liver transplantation, as studies have shown increased survival rates and similar success in older patients compared to younger ones. The findings suggest that the age at which liver transplantation is considered appropriate has been extended in recent years. This research has been peer-reviewed and published in Transplantation Proceedings. [Extracted from the article] |
