Abstrakt: A study conducted by the Texas Back Institute Research Foundation compared different methods of assessing bone quality in patients undergoing spine surgery. The study reviewed 426 candidates for lumbar disc replacement and compared the results of dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (DEXA), CT scans, and MRI scans. The researchers found that CT scans were more closely correlated to DEXA scores than MRI scans, suggesting that CT may be an alternative method for assessing bone quality in this population. The study was published in the Journal of Neurosurgery: Spine. [Extracted from the article]
