A recent report from Buenos Aires, Argentina discusses the presence of Trichinella, a parasitic disease, in wild boars from El Palmar National Park. The study found that 10.2% of wild boars tested positive for Trichinella larvae, with a low burden of infection. However, no anti-Trichinella antibodies were detected in wild boar serum samples. Dogs in the area showed a higher prevalence of exposure to Trichinella, with 35.29% testing positive for the parasite. The researchers recommend implementing an animal surveillance strategy to monitor the spread of this zoonotic disease. [Extracted from the article] |
