Abstrakt: | A recent study conducted at Stanford University in California explored the potential predictive role of imaging biomarkers in determining the occurrence of adverse cardiac events after radiotherapy for locally advanced non-small cell lung cancer. The study included a retrospective cohort analysis of patients treated with radiotherapy between 2006 and 2018. The findings revealed that adverse cardiac events occurred in over 20% of patients within a median time of less than two years. The study also identified the TotalLeft radiotherapy dose and coronary artery calcium (CAC) score as independent risk factors for cardiac events. These findings contribute to a better understanding of the associations between radiotherapy and cardiac events in lung cancer patients. [Extracted from the article] |
