A study conducted in the Sol Plaatje district of the Northern Cape in South Africa aimed to assess the knowledge, attitudes, and practices of healthcare providers (HCPs) regarding smoking cessation interventions. The study found that many HCPs lacked knowledge of South African tobacco smoking cessation guidelines and the recommended medicines for tobacco treatment. However, the majority recognized the importance of counseling patients about smoking and its impact on quitting. The researchers concluded that there is a need for continuing education on smoking cessation guidelines to improve HCPs' knowledge and intervention practices. [Extracted from the article] |
