A recent report discusses research conducted at Vanderbilt University Medical Center on predicting recovery from aphasia, a language disorder that can occur after a stroke. The study aimed to predict language outcomes in the first year of recovery using support vector regression models. The researchers found that approximately 60% of the variance in long-term aphasia severity could be predicted using these models, with lesion location playing an important role in the predictions. The study demonstrates the feasibility of using these models to make personalized predictions about long-term recovery from aphasia. [Extracted from the article] |
