Abstrakt: This article discusses a study on solid waste generation in secondary schools in Nigeria, specifically in Osogbo town. The study found that paper, nylon, and plastic were the most common waste components, with paper accounting for 40.4% of the total waste. The study also revealed that 88.5% of the waste generated was recyclable. However, waste management practices in the schools were poor, with no specific person assigned to handle waste management and no implementation of the 3 R management options (reduce, reuse, and recycling). The study recommends that stakeholders in the educational sector promote environmental education and enforce waste segregation to improve waste management and promote sustainable practices.
