The article discusses the concept of drafting in cycling, where a cyclist can save energy by riding in the slipstream of another cyclist. The lead cyclist benefits from reduced drag when a second cyclist joins behind them, and this effect is most noticeable when riding a tandem. In a race, cyclists form a pack called a peloton, where everyone except the lead cyclist benefits from riding in someone else's slipstream. The article also briefly mentions the formation of an echelon in crosswinds. The second part of the article explains why the Earth has an iron core and how iron, being the densest abundant element, gravitationally settles at the core. The final part of the article provides a technique for squeezing out of a tight parking spot, even if the length of the space is less than the diagonal of the car. [Extracted from the article] |
