Researchers from Apollo Hospitals in Guwahati, Assam, India conducted a study comparing bispectral index (BIS)-guided propofol induction with clinically guided propofol induction in adult hypertensive patients undergoing elective laparoscopic surgeries. The study found that BIS-guided propofol induction led to more stable hemodynamics during induction and reduced the frequency of propofol overdose and its adverse effects on hemodynamic stability. The BIS group also required a lower total dose of propofol compared to the clinically guided group. This research provides valuable insights into the use of BIS monitoring in propofol induction for hypertensive patients. [Extracted from the article] |
