A recent study conducted by researchers at Shinshu University in Matsumoto, Japan, explored the association between dementia and clinical outcomes in patients with acute decompensated heart failure (ADHF). The study analyzed data from 1,026 patients enrolled in the CURE-HF registry and found that dementia was present in 11.5% of patients with ADHF. Patients with dementia experienced more drug interruptions and heart failure admissions due to infection. Additionally, dementia was associated with an increased risk of death, particularly non-cardiovascular death. The study highlights the importance of further investigating risk reduction strategies for patients with ADHF and dementia. [Extracted from the article] |
