A recent study conducted in Cairo, Egypt, examined the effects of supplementation with condensed tannins or an herbal mixture on the rumen fermentation and microbiota of Shami goats. The study found that the herbal mixture led to higher rumen pH and increased levels of volatile fatty acids, while also altering the composition of the rumen microbial communities. The researchers concluded that the herbal mixture could be used to improve rumen fermentation by modifying the rumen microbiota. This research was supported by the Desert Research Center and was published in BMC Veterinary Research. [Extracted from the article] |
