A recent study conducted by researchers at Yokohama City University Graduate School of Medicine in Japan has found that the L-DOPA receptor GPR143 enhances the side effects of the antipsychotic drug haloperidol. The study focused on cholinergic interneurons in the striatum and their role in mediating haloperidol-induced catalepsy. The findings suggest that GPR143 may be involved in the development of parkinsonism induced by antipsychotic drugs. This research provides valuable insights into the neural circuits and mechanisms underlying the side effects of antipsychotics. [Extracted from the article] |
