A recent study conducted in Cali, Colombia, examined the outcomes of children with cancer in the last 72 hours of life who received Pediatric Palliative Care (PPC) in addition to oncology care. The study found that PPC provided a holistic approach to managing physical and psychosocial symptoms, resulting in improved comfort and less aggressive treatment at the end of life. The availability of a PPC team was found to contribute to improvements in the quality of end-of-life care for children with cancer. This research highlights the importance of integrated pediatric palliative care in middle-income countries. [Extracted from the article] |
