Abstrakt: A study conducted by researchers at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in Israel examined how nurse experience in the Emergency Department (ED) affects triage decisions. The study analyzed patient records and compared the Emergency Severity Index (ESI) classification to the patients' ED disposition. The findings showed that less-experienced nurses were more successful in identifying high-urgency patients but tended to misclassify low-urgency patients (over-triage), while experienced nurses were more successful in identifying low-urgency patients but misclassified more high-urgency patients (under-triage). The study highlights the importance of nurse experience in decision-making and suggests that raising awareness, providing feedback, and continuing education may improve triage accuracy.
