A recent report from Zurich, Switzerland discusses the rare medical condition known as aseptic abscess syndrome (AAS). This condition is characterized by multiple abscess collections in different organs, negative microbiological studies, and an association with inflammatory bowel disease. The diagnosis of AAS can only be made after ruling out infectious diseases. The report suggests that corticosteroids are the main treatment during the acute phase, with the possibility of switching to anakinra or infliximab later on. Further research is needed to determine the optimal regimen, dose, and duration of therapy for AAS. [Extracted from the article] |
