Abstrakt: | A recent study conducted by researchers at the University of California San Diego (UCSD) has found that a novel polymyxin derivative called SPR206 shows promise in treating carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii (CRAB) infections. The study compared the efficacy of SPR206 with traditional polymyxin (COL) therapeutics and found that SPR206 demonstrated lower minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) and maintained activity against COL-resistant isolates. Additionally, SPR206-based combination regimens exhibited increased synergistic and bactericidal activity compared to COL-based combination regimens. These findings suggest that SPR206 could be a potential treatment option for COL-resistant A. baumannii infections. [Extracted from the article] |
