Abstrakt: A recent study conducted by researchers at the Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency in South Korea examined the occurrence of antimicrobial-resistant bacteria in healthy dogs and cats. The study found that the resistance rates of tested antimicrobials were higher in dog isolates compared to cat isolates. The main components of the resistance patterns were cefalexin and ampicillin in both dog and cat isolates. The study concluded that the incidence of antimicrobial resistance in companion animals highlights the need to restrict antimicrobial resistance and ensure the prudent use of antimicrobials in Korea.
