In this study, unclad single-mode fiber-optic sensor is proposed by using COMSOL Multiphysics 5.1 finite element method (FEM) simulation. Since this sensor is based on the localized surface plasmon resonance phenomenon, the silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) (50 nm thickness) is used to coat the uncladded portion of the fiber core. The sensing area of the sensor which represents the coated core with Ag NPs is immersed in water, colon tissue, blood plasma, liver tissue, and pentanol (C5H11OH). The performances of the fiber are obtained by measuring the amplitude sensitivity SA [RIU]−1, wavelength sensitivity SW [nm/RIU], resolution R [RIU], and sensing length L s (λ , n a) (m) of the sensor. The highest calculated SW was found to be 12,500 [nm/RIU] with R = 8E − 06 [RIU] for blood plasma. These results provide theoretical foundation for experiment research. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
