This article, published in the Journal of Neurological Surgery, discusses a novel surgical technique for reconstructing defects in the clival and craniovertebral junction (CVJ) regions of the skull base. The technique involves using a nasopharyngo-septal butterfly flap, which is a vascularized flap that provides adequate mucosal coverage for the reconstruction. The study was conducted on cadaveric heads and found that the flap was able to cover the entire clivus with CVJ in all 15 cadavers.
