Abstrakt: This article discusses the potential benefits of using the endoscopic endonasal approach (EEA) for atlantoaxial fixation, a surgical treatment for cervical spine instability. The traditional posterior approach is associated with various risks and complications. Through cadaveric studies, the authors demonstrate that the EEA is a feasible alternative with comparable biomechanical stability. They advocate for the development of specialized tools for cervical fixation through the EEA, which could potentially decrease postoperative complications, morbidity, and mortality, especially in patients with certain anatomical limitations.
