This article discusses recent updates on Human Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor 2 (HER2) guidelines for breast cancer. The updates address how to recognize the lower ends of the spectrum of HER2 staining. The article proposes an "I-C-E" framework for evaluating HER2 testing, which stands for Intensity, Completeness, and Extent of staining. The article emphasizes the importance of using microscope magnification power and staining controls to minimize interobserver variability.
