Abstrakt: Phosphorus (P) is an important nutrient for paddy filed. P deficiency will affect plant growth and yield. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of humic substances, straw compost, and water management on changes in phosphorus (P) fraction in medium and high P-status paddy fields in West Java. The research was conducted at the Greenhouse Installation of Bogor Soil Research Institute beginning from October 2016 to February 2017 and used a Factorial Randomized Design with three factors, which were P status, water management, and organic matter. The data collected were soil chemical properties, P fractionation, and P uptake in paddy fields. The results indicated that the treatment of water management: saturated (water height=0 cm), intermittent (water height=2 cm), and inundation (water height=4 cm), and the application of organic matter: humic substances and straw compost on medium and high P status paddy fields caused changes in the available P fraction (Resin-Pi), P labile (NaHCO3-P), moderate P labile (NaOH-P, and HCl-Pi) and P stable (Residual-P/occluded-P) although not significant. There was a significant correlation between P uptake with HCl-Pi fraction (r=0.597) and an occluded-P fraction (r=0.684). This treatment was able to change the moderate P labile and P stable into a more P labile for paddy fields. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
